Advancing age, declining hormone levels, lack of exercise and poor nutrition, all contribute to a decline in our higher mental functions. To obtain an accurate objective assessment of your neurocognitive function, we administer a computer based test. “Neurocognition” refers to the use of higher brain functions: learning, remembering, concentrating, solving problems and making decisions. The assessments measure the speed and accuracy of these five basic mental functions which are indicators of health and the brain’s functional status.
The test evaluates an individual’s pattern of cognitive strengths and weaknesses compared to a normative sample of age-matched peers. During your Executive Health Evaluation this test will establish a baseline measurement. Subsequently we administer the test at appropriate intervals to follow an individual’s neurocognitive function longitudinally. The test is intuitive and simple to take, even for patients with little or no computer experience.
